What do you do?

Peakpact is an ethical business consultancy based in the Peak District National Park, UK. We provide bespoke support for purpose-led organisations, helping create the strategies which feel right and drive ambitious missions forwards.

What's the story behind this creation?

This is one of our pieces that combines photography, basic prose, and an invitation to explore your own approach, thoughts and feelings. 

Where does your creative inspiration come from?

Everywhere. Often nature. In the case of this "Inevitable beauty" piece, the initial intention was to capture and simplify one of the core approaches to our consultancy work: create the conditions for thriving. We spent some time really reflecting on how we achieve this in our work, and how to communicate that. When we recalled the Robert Henri quote, it all clicked and was then only a matter of selecting an image to support the text - a nature scene, of course. 

What are your favourite moments in the creative process?

The moments as ideas land and spark more ideas. Those "yes! that's it!" moments, like stars being born. And at the same time, trapped in those moments, is all the mystery and wonder of what comes next: what those ideas will lead to. 

What aspects of the process do you find most challenging?

Often the very final stages of the journey. Once it's almost 'in the bag'  it can be easy to lose focus and start feeling the pull to the next thing - to create another star before the last one is complete. 

...and how do you get through those moments?

Focus and create the conditions that support the disciplined final push. For us, that's removing distractions and keeping the end goal in sight. It's also super important to celebrate the wins and appreciate the creation and the journey.

As you’re creating, are you thinking about the audience at all? Tell us about that...

Absolutely. Creations like this one are for a target audience. We want to deliver something through engaging with the content such as clarity, validation, fresh perspectives, or simply permission to pause and reflect. We have a desired outcome in mind during the creation.

If you could give your past self just one piece of advice to help them on their creative journey, what would that be? 

Start quickly. Some ideas are great, some are awful! The sooner you start, the sooner you can explore and discover which it is and therefore how much of yourself to throw at it.
